Building department representatives working with the Independent Roofing Contractors of California, North Bay Division have developed standardized residential reroofing guidelines for use within Sonoma County. 

A booklet describing the reroofing guidelines is available at each of the building departments within the County.  The booklet, Sonoma County Reroofing Guidelines, provides explicit procedures for each type of roofing material; notes building code requirements for residential reroofing applications and, where agency requirements differ, offers specific individual agency requirements. 

The reroofing guidelines are an aspect of the continuing effort by Sonoma County’s building departments to standardize policies while at the same time cooperating with the County’s business community. Building Department administrators realize that they have an important role in sustaining the County’s economic vitality.
